Walls in visual rhyme

At the end of October the appearance of Gösta’s pavilion is starting to take more visible shape as over half of the glulam beams i.e. “mullions” have been put to place. After their installation the remaining roof work can be completed. The heating is on throughout the building and finishing casting of the floor areas are in good progress, also electrical and ventilation installation is in good speed. The recent landmark, tower crane, will disappear from the work site by the end of November. Landscaping work has been begun with the parking areas and paths at the shore-side. At present, about 65 persons work for several contractors on the site. Image: Juha Roponen

The foundation of the supporting wall has been casted. The installation of mullions will be started around the end of September. The framework of the large window surfaces are installed at the same time. The supporting structure of the corridor connecting the reception area to the rest of the museum has been put in its position. In the basement the finishing and painting of the inner walls is in progress. The ventilation units are installed in the technical space. Image: Juha Roponen

The spaces begin to take shape

At the end of July it is already easy to grasp the shape of the new Gösta. In this picture you can see the main exhibition space that is at the beach side of the building. Work at the extension prceeds in a slightly different pace in different parts of the building. At the beach side, the installation of walls and windows is at good speed. As next  the floor between the office space and exhibition space will be casted in the midsection of the building. The floor of the part of the building that is at the top of the slope has been casted and the last glulam frames are being erected. Image: Juha Roponen
