Key Facts about Gösta’s Pavilion

Design
- An international architectural design competition was organised 2010-2011 to design the Pavilion.
- Altogether 259 entries from 42 countries participated. It was largest arcitectural competition then held in Finnish history.
- The winner was announced on 22 June 2011 in Mänttä.
- Barcelonian  architectural studio MX_SI’s work Parallels was selected a winner.
- Architects Héctor Mendoza, Mara Partida and Boris Bezan were responsible for the design.
- Local cooperating partner in architectural design: Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen Arkkitehdit Oy, architect Pekka Pakkanen
- Construction design: A-Insinöörit Oy, Project Manager Launo Laatikainen
- Plumbing and HVAC design: AIRIX Talotekniikka Oy
- Electrical design: Sähkötekniikka Kari Siren Oy
- Fire safety design: Pöyry Finland Oy
- Geological design: Ramboll Finland Oy
- Landscaping: Maisemasuunnittelu Hemgård

The Building
- Gross floor area is 5 700 sq. m. and net internal area 3 500 sq. m.
- Three different-size exhibition space: 600, 300 and 100 sq. m., festival hall, museum shop and restaurant.
- Office spaces of the personnel.
- Appropriate storage and conservation facilities for the foundations’ collection.
- The oxygen deprivation equipment of the art storage represents the latest technology of the branch Finland. With this equipment the oxygen level of the storage rooms can be lowered to such a low level that most solid and liquid matters will not ignite.
- A glass corridor links the pavilion to the old manor.
- Laminated timber beams hat remain visible in external and internal walls form the main structure of the building. The rhythmic structure of the building’s façade is formed by glass and wooden surfaces.


Construction
- The construction started in November 2012.
- The renewed art museum was opened on 14 June 2014.
- The estimated cost of the project was approximately 20 Mio euros. The construction was realised totally on the own means of Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation.
- Construction contractor: Jämsän Kone- ja Rakennuspalvelu Oy.
- Plumbing contractor: Jämsän Vesi ja Lämpö.
- Ventilation works: MHS-Asennus Oy Lempäälästä.
- Electrical contractor: Are Oy / Jyväskylä office.
